We officially have 56 days and only 1 more holiday until Christmas. I'm thinking it's time to start putting subtle Christmas decorations up. You know, some Christmas lights outside. When do you start decorating?
It's snowing! Well, let me rephrase that. It's snowing in some parts of the world. I won't bore you with the details but the one thing I lack in life? Seasons.
I feel like seasons are such an important aspect of life. Leaving one season and entering another you tend to reflect and look back on that phase of your life. Think about what you liked, what you didn't, your accomplishments and maybe a few things you could change or work on harder. So I find myself in this constant state of summer, with no point to stop me and say, "Look. Look where you are in life. Look how you've grown." And I miss it.
"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says 'Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'" - Lewis Carroll
And wondering... when is too soon to put them up? Because I would kind of love to drape my entire house in them. For the last couple years we've strictly used the white lights but this year I think it's time to branch out to the colored lights.
They just scream happy-carefree. What do you prefer?
Another Christmas classic to start your week. Enjoy!
I've never had the need to eat out on Christmas, no burnt turkey, no rabid dogs stealing our food.
I'm grateful because Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without my Mom's homemade candy yams, frog eye salad (not actual frog eyes) and that nastalgic feeling of Home. A fire crackling away in the fireplace, Neil Diamond singing on the stereo because Dad insists and all the little kiddies running around with their new toys.
What do you think? What Christmas dinner traditions do you have?
I heard from a little bird that yesterday several places received their first snow fall. Although, it's still sunny and warm where I sit, I can't help but melt knowing somewhere in the world someone is watching those sparkly little flakes fall from the sky.
I've decided to start doing Christmas movie clips on Monday.
It will be a fun way to say, "Welcome back from the weekend! How about a little yuletide joy to start your week?"
Well, today I'm sharing a little clip from the movie Elf. I'm sure you've all seen it, or at least heard of it. It's definitely become one of my Christmas classics. It's not only everything that's wonderful about Christmas but it's hilarious. Which, to my added pleasure, makes it almost acceptable to watch all year round. If you haven't seen it, go watch it! And if you have... watch it again!
Definitely looking forward to the colder weather. My sweaters, scarves and jackets are just screaming my name.
What do you look forward to in the later months? If anything.
Is it the delicious seasonal drinks? The scrumptious smells of pumpkin spice candles and cinnamon nutmeg? Cuddling up with your significant other in front of the fireplace?
Let me know. I'd love to add it to my list of favorites.
